Well sometimes this is caused by having the so-called "capture"
input checked. This takes what you hear and pumps it back into the
input. Infact some windows drivers call this option "what you hear".

The only input source you want lit up (little red lights in Kmix) is mic
and not Capture.

Then again it could be the flaky Intel driver problems many have
posted about.
