1) set the usb connection of the d100 *in* the menu of the d100 to PTP mode.

2 Install the latest version of digikam, if you haven't done so already.
digikam uses the same code as gphoto2 to connect to the camera.

3) start digikam, connect your d100, and select the d100 in digikam, etc.
