Well gee whiz.... on my system (which has a vanilla 2.6.6 kernel and is
running VMWare 4.5.1 just fine) if you look in /lib/modules/2.6.6/:

you will find:

/lib/modules/2.6.6/build ---> /usr/src/linux-2.6.6/

which is *exactly* the same thing as what is coming up from vmware-config.pl
(and it's always been that way)
