I woke up to a dead modem. I was trying to get a big file, so left it to d/l
overnight. When I got up I noted that the modem lights were still lighted as
if I was online (no throughput lights flashing, though) and the kinternet
icon was in the 'off' state. I reconnected, and it quit half an hour later,
in the [apparently] same fashion as last night. (I say this since I've seen
it happen many times even w/9 Pro.)

Since it quit working while I was working I got some kernel output that I am
hoping someone can explain to me. You'll note lots o f kernel messages
having to do w/ppp0... which I think is firewall output, actually. Then, at
09:02:32, you get down to gconf which is where I apparently lost my modem.

- --I UNPLUGGED THE MODEM--

I sincerely hope someone can help me get this figured out! Sometimes the
modem will go for 24 hours straight, other times just a few minutes, as shown
above.

Thanks!
