This one's a Mustek parallel port scanner and so has to be set up by hand. Probably I've got some device or kernel module wrong. So any suggestions might help.

This is the test (as root)

uyea:/etc # export SANE_DEBUG_MUSTEK_PP=128
uyea:/etc # scanimage -L
[sanei_debug] Setting debug level of mustek_pp to 128.
[mustek_pp] sane-mustek_pp, version 0.12-alpha. build for SANE 1.0.13
[mustek_pp] backend by Jochen Eisinger <jochen.eisinger@xxxxxxx>
[mustek_pp] cis_attach: couldn't attach to `0x378' (Invalid argument)
[mustek_pp] cis_attach: trying alternative port name: parport0
[mustek_pp] cis_attach: couldn't attach to alternative port `parport0' (Invalid argument)

/dev/port exists but no /dev/parport0
