There is no option to do this, sadly, always has been a complaint
of mine and a pal.

With Yast you can export a list of all your packages to a .sel
listing. This list can be imported when you install a new version
of SuSE and when you select your software (put it on a floppy or
some partition and mount that manually to be able to load it).
Helps me for not having the packages i need and i find it a better
apporach than to just install all packages/ garbage/ security
risks.

Liked your solution and awaiting my 9.1 I had a look into this user.sel file after producing this selection file.
Nice to have all selected packages but they all have their version number included.
How are you going to use this selection file with a newer SuSE version?

Constant - good question

As far as i know i did this when upgrading from 8.2 to 9.0 - but (due to aging?) i am not completely sure - have been upgrading too much lately on different machines. When i used it t worked out very satisfactorily and i only had to add/ change some kde-packages that were packaged differently. And i upgrade packages through time so there must ave been differences in versions.

Will try it again in two week when i finally can find to time to go to 9.1.
