Yes if you really mean xinetd and inetd. That would also explain why you couln't find the documentation. I guess the alternative would be init.d, which also has a man page.

AFAIK, xinet.d is now the default in SuSE though I found it easier to use inet.d for clustering on a tightly coupled private network.
