I have k3v-0.11.9-0 too but I solved the problem after a lot of googling:

Maybe I forgot to say that I have SuSe-8.2 now.

What I did:

1) Install scsi emulation
2) Set U-DMA to "no" in Yast2

And I can burn up to 3.8Gb now (and more of course).
