RE: [SLE] Problem installing SuSE 9.0 on a VA Linux with an aic-7897 controller
James:

I've waited almost 40 minutes as you said and yes, the module have
loaded, but giving no support the the controller(!). So, as you can figure
out, I couldn't install it...
Now I installed an old SuSE 7.2 and it's working nice(!!). The aic7xxx
module was loaded cleanly and the controller is very happy and running all
disks. The problem is that I don't want to stay in version 7.2...
Currently, I'm compiling a kernel 2.4.21-99 (from SuSE, as you can
imagine...) with the aic7xxx support inside the kernel, to check if it work
that way.
While it compiles, do you have any other idea?

I had similar trouble with a VA box. I found that the driver checks to see
what disks are connected to the Adaptec controller and the controller takes
a
*very* long time to respond.

Wait about 30-45 minutes and it should continue.
