Ralph,
You have interesting info to offer for canadians. I live in Ottawa.
Now , concerning SuSE distribution in Canada. I believe that the SuSE people
are doing what they can. There are not many takers here. To go with Future is
better than anybody else as Future Shop has the most widely spread
distribution channnels in place in Canada. However, the downside is that
Future Shop tends to buy only 'end of the line product lines' in order to be
competitive. There may be light at the end of the tunnel. Once Future Shop
becomes Best Buy sometimes next year, there may be a possibility to have
SuSE's software avilable in a more timely fashion. Another possibility might
be Amazon Canada once they ramp up properly.
Curently I am in a favourable position to bring it in from Germany when I
visit with my father. But I do not have version 8.1 either.
To bring it in from the US at this time, considering the value of the
'canadion peso' ist hardly an option. I guess we just have to sit tight and
wait it out.

Greetings from Ottawa where the Canada Geese are getting ready for an US
invasion (no puns intended).

Heri Riesbeck
