Mine had to be SCSI emulated in 8.0. There are a couple
of articles about this in the SuSE knowledge base. I
might be able to dig up links if you can't find them.

Mine aren't. Mine point to /dev/hdc as I'd expect. Perhaps that's an 8.1
thing which doesn't get carried across when upgrading? Mind you, I don't
a CD writer, which is clearly where the advantage would be.
