put the script in /etc/init.d (or /sbin/init.d on pre 7.1 systems), make
it executable (chmod 755 or 700) then link it to the appropriate runlevel
directory with ln -s /etc/init.d/myscript /etc/init.d/rcX.d/S99myscript
