GoodEvening All
I'm still trying to hunt for clues on this recurring log message -
tset: standard error: Inappropriate ioctl for device

I have -
SuSE 70 professional - kernel 2.4.2-suse-6 sources. modutils-2.4.2-14, ppp-2.4.0-20
I've been getting this error message lately, everytime running yast, or SuSEconfig - shows at -

Reading /etc/rc.config and updating the system...
Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.alsa...
Executing /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.gdm...
tset: standard error: Inappropriate ioctl for device

This started after updates of modutils - ppp-2.4.0 -

maybe I need the newer util-linux 2.10o fdformat --version
e2fsprogs 1.19 tune2fs

my present versions are
tune2fs 1.18, 11-Nov-1999 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09
and
fdformat from util-linux-2.10m

any help on this ? tset: standard error: Inappropriate ioctl for device

I can give more info if needed.
Thanks for help and suggestions

John WM
