I use wget in the form:

wget -m -np -c -X /pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/zq1 \
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/*

this will mirror the updates folder but excludes the sources
folder, it only gets the new or changed files.
