That is fine. Next place to look is probably /etc/modules.conf. I
notice in the boot.msg of you original post that after the scsi hosts
found message, there is nothing telling what the scsi host is. On my
box, it does (the tape drive).

modules.conf is a lot of magic I don't understand very well.
Suggestions from what I have.

alias scsi_hostadapter ide-scsi
alias block-major-11 sr_mod

I am not clear on precisely what the first does. The second says what
driver to use for the SCSI CD-ROM.

I am now out of my depth, someone else will have to help.
