as of 06/04/09, the stale-repo issue's, apparently, resolved,

zypper se -s | egrep ^i | egrep " zypper| libzypp| aria"
        i | aria2    | package    | 1.4.0-1.1    | x86_64 | Netutils
        i | libzypp  | package    | 6.7.0-14.1   | x86_64 | ZyppHEAD
        i | zypper   | package    | 1.1.2-93.1   | x86_64 | ZyppHEAD

so, 'back in business' with latest repos.
