well ...

iiuc, since patterns aren't physical, and can't be uninstalled -- or
even allow their component packages to be removed as a group -- the
match-when-satisfied is basically a reporting tool.

how about the ability to specify "hiding" of selected/specific
patterns from being either offered for install (in zypper cmd line, as
well as in yast software install gui), or matched/reported when
satisfied?

something in "/etc/zypp/locks" perhaps?

i already have there,

 type: pattern
 match_type: exact
 case_sensitive: on
 solvable_name: apparmor

which I believe (still somewhat foggy ...) does prevent any of
apparmor pattern's component packages from being installed.  that's
not what we'd want -- just to hide the pattern naming.

a plug-nickel says that it's already doable and, as usual, i've missed
it ... again
