basically a repository with addiotional information.
Is it possible to install an add-on product by downloading & opening a file?
In general? Yes it is. If that file contains information about which URL
should be used as a new repository. Add-On product handling then takes
the additional information (required packages/patterns/installation
workflow) from installation.xml and/or content file.
