I first thought this was a user error but reading the source shows
that this is indeed the correct syntax.
But it is completely inconsistent style, to have
 --boolean-option <on|off>
while all the other boolean options have no arguments. IMO it should
be converted to
 --boolean-option
 --no-boolean-option
