Hi,

As you can see in my zypper.log, it takes 44 seconds for rpmdb2solv to
finish, but still my zypper stays silent on what is going on.

If done right, this time will only be payed once, for the initial creating
the the _rpm.solv file. From then on it can be held uptodate much
quicker, libzypp just needs to do the right magic (using the old solv file
as base for the new one). Duncan now implemented that, and you shouldn't
see long rpmdb2solv times as soon as you once have an _rpm.solv file
already. Independend of that ...

Please move the progress kickoff to before rpmdb2solv is started.

... I agree with this. Would it help it rpmdb2solv prints out a
percentage counter on stderr, if called with a special parameter? Could
libzypp make use of that?

Ciao,
Michael.
