This is nice. We have to add this to zypper too. libzypp supports it, but
zypper does not pass it.
done in libzypp svn, will be out in zypper 0.9.1

- --reposd-dir, --cache-dir, and --raw-cache-dir global options
added
- r7608
BTW, what about having --root to prepend the root to default paths for
all the above dirs unless they are used themselves?

--root $ROOT => --repos-dir $ROOT/etc/zypp/repos.d --cache-dir
$ROOT/var/cache/zypp --raw-cache-dir $ROOT/var/cache/zypp/raw

Currently --root $ROOT does not change these, it still reads metadata
and .repo files from '/' but installs to $ROOT

Jan I opened bug: #336353 for this one, maybe you can comment on this
one if you have changed or want to change the behavior of --root
as you suggested. Thanks a lot

* If this would be done I think I can remove the --catalog options
* It would be nice if you can make an example of how to call zypper
correctly with the new options as comment to the bug

Done :O)
