Yes. 

The old branch is at version 2.16.3. Reseve some minors for SP1/10.2 
changes and start the SP2 at e.g:

        m4_define([LIBZYPP_MAJOR],       [2])
        dnl ==================================================
        m4_define([LIBZYPP_MINOR],       [30])
        m4_define([LIBZYPP_COMPATMINOR], [30])
        dnl ==================================================
        m4_define([LIBZYPP_PATCH],       [0])



Add a big red comment in SuSE-Linux-10_2 to keep minor below 30.
