[radeonhd] issue with radeon 4350 PCI (not AGP, not PCI-E)
- From: "Dr. Ing. Dieter Jurzitza" <dieter.jurzitza@xxxxxxxxxxx>

Dear listmembers,
I am currently struggling with acceptable performance with my radeon 4350
card. Using fglrx, the performance is very good, however, fglrx seems not to
be capable to cope with the PCI-card, the entire machine always freezes sooner
or later.
With framebuffer everything is operational, but sloooooowwww. The same (and
this is my issue here) happens with radeonhd.
To my understanding the problem is buried in the (WW) following entries in
Xorg.0.log. The slowlyness might be caused by the fallback to shadowfb-
operation:
*********************

modesetting.
If - and only if - your card does not work or does not work optimally
please contact radeonhd@xxxxxxxxxxxx to help rectify this.
Use the subject: 0x954F:0x1787:0x2271: <name of board>
and *please* describe the problems you are seeing
in your message.

(WW) RADEONHD(0): Falling back to ShadowFB acceleration
(II) Loading sub module "i2c"
*****************
The device has issues with rhdAtomAllocateFbScratch and it is falling back to
ShadowFB acceleration - this feels like no acceleration at all. A little above
of this it is said that the entire video ram cannot be used due to the PCI
aperture list - whatever that means.
If you want me to provide more information, please let me know (and tell me
how) as it is impossible to send attachements to the list.
