Hallo Herr Schaefer,

bei der Installation von openSuSE 11.2 mit der Radeon HD 4870
versagte der X-Server, d.h. er blieb im Textmodus.

Mit 'sax2 -r' startete auch kein X-Server. Er meldete:

Das fatale daran war, dass auch 'sax2 -l' bzw. 'sax2 -s svga' mit der gleichen 
Meldung
versagte.

Dann habe ich den ATI-Treiber 'Radeon HD 4870' mit

sh ./ati-driver-installer-10-1-x86.x86_64.run

mit Erfolg installiert.

Xorg.0.log schreibt nun:

Erstaunlicherweise wurde auch in dem zuvor von sax generierten
Xorg.0.log der Treiber fglrx probiert - er ist jedoch nicht in den
Paketen
xorg-x11-driver-video und
xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd
enthalten.

Ich bitte Sie , dafuer zu sorgen, dass wenigstens ein Fehlerhinweis erscheint 
und
ein standard-vga-basierter xserver gestartet wird, damit der User eine Chance 
hat.

Aehnliches gilt fuer den nv-treiber. Um den 1600-er Modus zu aktivieren, musste 
ich
ebenfalls den Original nvidia-treiber holen, fuer den es ja schon das 
komfortable
yast-Repository zum einbinden der Nvidia-Quellen gibt.

Ich vermisse auch als aelterer DDR-Burger die Moglichkeit, in deutscher Sprache
