this card will not work on a 1680x1050 TFT Monitor, connected via DVI, in
it´s native resolution. The other resolutions (up to 1600x1200) are
working fine.
So what resolution does the monitor show if it supposed to show
1680x1050?
Sorry, I forgot to say:
I see only a black screen, sometimes for a very short time I see the kdm login
screen. So I assume, X is running, but with wrong parameters.
With your modelines:
"1680x1050R": Only a black screen, after a few minutes the monitor shuts off.
"1680x1050_60.00":
One time I saw for a few seconds the kdm loginscreen, but the blue background
was half red (red flicker). After that again the black screen.
Another time I saw also black screen with the Monitor message
"Schlummerbetrieb aktiviert" (Stand by). This message appears suddenly.
The driver thinks it is running the resolution just fine:I tried your modelines and some more, with different syncs etc, but the result
(II) RADEONHD(0): Output DVI-I_2/digital using initial mode 1680x1050
(II) RADEONHD(0): On Crtc 0 Setting 59.9 Hz Mode: Modeline "1680x1050"
119.00 1680 1728 1760 1840 1050 1053 1059 1080 -hsync +vsync
Hm. The mode seems to be a reduced blanking mode, but that should be
+hsync -vsync...
Please try the modelines
Modeline "1680x1050_60.00" 146.25 1680 1784 1960 2240 1050 1053 1059
1089 -hsync +vsync Modeline "1680x1050R" 119.00 1680 1728 1760 1840
1050 1053 1059 1080 +hsync -vsync
and use them with
Modes "1680x1050R"
and
Modes "1680x1050_60.00"
You can also add the modes and select them dynamically with xrandr.
Matthias
was always the same: Black srceen with 1680x1050 at the DVI output.
The monitor worked fine with a Nvidia card and the NV driver at the DVI output
(same DVI cable).
I tested the Monitor on an other PC witch the same card: Same problem.
Tomorrow I get an other Monitor, but with the same resolution.
I will test the card with this monitor.
Can I try something else?
Do you need more information?
Do you need the Xorg.log from the nvida card?
I tried some other things, look at:
de.comp.os.unix.x11
Monitor 1680x1050 und ATI/AMD Grafikkarte
Thanks Michael
