Ping!
Greetings all;
I seem to be back to an intermittent problem that has made a PIMA of itself since about 2.6.27 days. It bothered me occasionally all thru the kernel increments but has noticeably worsened since building a 2.6.33-rc5, which is running now on this F10 system uname -a:
[root@coyote nitros9-3.2.8]# uname -a Linux coyote.coyote.den 2.6.33-rc5 #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 22 12:24:05 EST 2010 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
With an amd phenom 9550 quad core cpu.
The screen will go blank for 2 or 5 seconds, flicker back on for a fraction of a second & go off again. It doesn't do it from bootup, often for several hours, but when it starts, the only way to fix it is to reboot. But to do that safely, I must 1. locate the screen that kmail is running on, switch to that screen, find kmails file menu, then the quit line, click on it and give kmail time to do a graceful shutdown else it may have restart problems. All this can take as much as 5 minutes when you can't see what you are doing 98% of the time.
Repeat until frustrated enough to post this squawk.
Uptodate (as of eol for F10) F10 system, /etc/x11/xorg.conf, /var/log/Xorg.0.log attached.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Are you sure that this is kernel related? Could you disable DRI and see if this still happens? Cheers, Egbert. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
