Apart from corruption on the XDM login window (which occurs with and
without acceleration), I have had no bugs or negative issues yet. I
haven't tested it much -- windows can be slid with the mouse very
rapidly without leaving long trails; DOSBox plays my favorite old game
without sound glitches (graphics seem quicker, but haven't played with
settings yet); prboom doesn't bog down so much -- but I'm already liking
it. The visual aspects of my desktop machine haven't been this
responsive since the proprietary NVidia driver went away (with the dead
card this past summer).

I think I've got the same card in my system now, though PCIe based.
Could you share your notes and build scripts with the rest of us so we
can build and test .debs more easily? I'm running Ubuntu 9.10, but
happy to break my system to get better performance. Oh wait, I've got
an X1250, R500 card. In any case, your notes (either emailed or put
into the wiki) would be a great help!
Also, when I lock my display, and kid seven year old switches users so
he can play Super Mario Chronicles, the performance is terrible. Is
this because user switching doesn't allow sharing of the Hardware for
video acceleration? I seem to remember something about this, but
Ican't find it in my old emails currently.
