The DPMS standby/off timeout is very low and not consistent. Sometime the
screens will shut off after a few seconds of no activity and other times a
minute or two. The timeout is always short. I have attempted to use xset, but
the only effect I can get is to force standby and turn off DPMS. Changing the
timeout numbers does not appear to have any effect.
I recently tried to change some DPMS settings in the xorg.conf unsuccessfully.
