Could you try to find first broken commit, please? It's pretty easy to
test that with "git bisect". The problem may be freeze and restarting

yeah... indeed, it was very annoying to wait for fsck to restore my
big filesystems. I figured out the change that broke FreeBSD support:

[zelda] ~/tmp/xf86-video-radeonhd> git bisect good
