Does the drm patch in bug 21849 help?

Apparently not.  I hit the bug again even though I'm now running
2.6.30-rc5 with the radeon-test-ring patch.

I hit this bug again but under different circumstances. This time, X
crashed when SMPlayer initialized it's overlay. X wouldn't restart.
I had to reboot.

The video in question was an American terrestrial HDTV broadcast at
1920x1080 resolution. This was the first time I've tried to view
material at that resolution with kernel-native DRM.

Unfortunately, I don't have an Xorg.log. When X died, GDM repeatedly
tried to restart X before giving up. This overwrote Xorg.0.log as
well as Xorg.0.log.old.

Does anyone know how to tell GDM _not_ to restart X after it dies?

I've become tired of my machine needing to be rebooted so often.
Could I replace the DRM in the 2.6.30-rcX kernel with the DRM checked
out from xorg git? Are the two compatible?

I've updated the bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22153
