Is the performance similar to what you got before with acceleration ?
Does Textured Video still work ?

I'm wondering if the new code is generating the error message even
though everything worked, since I didn't see any other obvious problems
in the log.

after today git master commits my Ati Radeon Mobility X2300 lost 2D
acceleration.

        Solid filled rectangles
        8x8 mono pattern filled rectangles
        Indirect CPU to Screen color expansion
        Solid Lines
        Scanline Image Writes
        Setting up tile and stipple cache:
                32 128x128 slots
                18 256x256 slots
                5 512x512 slots
(WW) RADEONHD(0): Failed to initalize XAA; disabling acceleration.
