Do I need to have 2.6.30* to use regular Xv with radeonhd?

Xv and EXA for r6xx/r7xx requires the latest radeon kernel module.
Vanilla 2.6.29 doesn't include this, but you can compile it yourself:

And also, is there a way to get xorg-server-1.6 on openSUSE without
compiling it by hand? I don't mind compiling a driver here and there
or the kernel (which I seem to do pretty often), but I remember X
being a fairly unwieldy beast to compile. Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with OpenSUSE myself.
