The current Fedora 10 install uses KMS for "supported" chips, which
includes r5xx.  This is (as far as I can tell) primarily so their
plymouth boot time thingy can throw up eye candy to hide the boot
messages which otherwise might scare users.

Unfortunately this causes problems with DRI, some of which are collected
in:

  http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=19057

These can generally be worked around with "nomodeset" given to the
kernel.  But in that case it would be better to have the driver either
respond "I can't do that" or labeled as non-functional or something,
otherwise many people will smack into it.
