Hi Jamal,

I'm not sure how you installed the driver. I had a similiar problem.
First you should checkout radeonhd driver and the drm module from git.

Then switch the branch to r6xx/r7xx-support and compile it.
Replace the drm.ko and radeon.ko with the new ones (found in the
drm/linux-core folder) and depmod the whole stuff.

Restart your xserver and unload the old drm und radeon module. Now 2D
should work over the graphic card. And the performance is not bad at all.
