Hi Mattias,
Did you have a chance to look futher into this? Let me know if more information
or
tests are neeed.
Just a thought. Is the bios expected to be able to detect and use the hdmi
interface? If I boot with HDMI only, the bios doesn't show on the TV.
Many thanks!

*Theoretically*, there should be already 1280x1024 on the HDMI. You can try
to run 'xrandr --output DVI-D_1 --mode 1280x720' - that is at least a TV
resolution, and the TV should be able to display it.
Tried it. No success. xrandr move the '*' marker to the 720 line though. So
that part works. Nothing on the TV though.
Also, you might want to look into the "Coherent" option in 'man radeonhd'.
Just a guess, though.
Hmm. Any idea what transmitter to use? I check the Xorg.log, and the only
match betweeen it and the man page I get is for TMDS. however, it seems my
TMDS is used for the other DVI connector: (II) RADEONHD(0): RandR: Adding
RRoutput VGA_1 for Output DAC A (II) RADEONHD(0): RandR: Adding RRoutput
TV_SVIDEO for Output DAC A (II) RADEONHD(0): RandR: Adding RRoutput DVI-D_1
for Output DDIA (II) RADEONHD(0): RandR: Adding RRoutput DVI-D_2 for Output
TMDS B
I'm not sure if it matters, or if its a standard setup, but I have the HDMI
connector on a PCIe card, and the (other) DVI connector and VGA connector on
the motherboard.
And have you tried connecting *only* the HDMI cable? And look into the
Xorg.0.log, maybe the mode turns up then (doesn't necessarily mean that you
get the TV to display something).
Tried that too, and the TV is still blank. Interestingly though, diffing the
Xlog log with/without VGA connected at startup, I get a differnt resolution:
-(II) RADEONHD(0): Output DVI-D_1 using initial mode 1280x1024 +(II)
RADEONHD(0): Output DVI-D_1 using initial mode 720x400 Albeit it seems its
not used (1280x1280 !!): -(II) RADEONHD(0): Using 1920x1920 Framebuffer with
1920 pitch -(II) RADEONHD(0): FB: Allocated ScanoutBuffer at offset
0x00008000 (size = 0x00E10000) -(**) RADEONHD(0): Display dimensions: (1020,

ScanoutBuffer at offset 0x00008000 (size = 0x00640000) +(==) RADEONHD(0): DPI

And it's stopped off with: -(II) RADEONHD(0): Setting screen physical size to

There additionally have been quite some patches regarding digital outputs
(commit c38be2432: "DCE3.0: Properly map DCE3.0 DIG encoders" comes into my
mind) in git. Version 1.2.4 is the recent one.
Thanks for lookin into this. Full Xlog logs from a 1.2.4 start with and
without VGA conected attached.
