I deleted src and got new from git. I did not add any patches but I think the
main src now has your patch built in. This comment only to clarify that it is
the main git and not the patch 004 you sent me earlier.
I made the change (HDMI "none"). Image still has problem but the sound over
HDMI did stop.
Changed HDMI back to all but commented out option audio on. Sound still works.
I think I used to get three resolutions over HDMI but am now only getting two.
Made a change to xorg.conf by adding line:
Option "monitor-VIZIO" "vizio"
Maybe that caused something but still not part of main problem.
I tried with and without virtual 1920 1400, under the screen subsection.
Didn't notice any real difference.

I can see from your xorg.conf that you are using my HDMI patch, does it make
any difference if you disable HDMI support?
Try setting the "HDMI" option to "none" instead of "all".
