a. Your log file in attachment #17351 was generated on a 64 bit system.
You had an external display attached. Did X come up on both the internal and
external screen?
b. When did the lockup on i386 happen? On startup or shutdown?

Locating a freeze is difficult as the log file doesn't get written fully. Could
you please run with the -logverbose 7 option so that we can try to get a little
closer to the point where it locks up?
@Joao: could you also please provide a -logverbose 7 log file?
