Hi! I have the same problem on the same laptop.

I don't know what are the relations of the radeonhd driver and the framebuffer
but, as it was pointed to, if one boots the M51Se with framebuffer (vga=nnn)
the screen remains black (e.g. it's impossible to use the last OpenSuse
livecd).

Does the radeonhd driver use the framebuffer? Is it possible to disable it's
use?
