Vista and xp works.

The fact is that is bought that laptop to have a laptop running on 100% FOSS...
how frustrating.

I don't even need hardware acceleration.

I tried setting several resolutions and modelines.

It's quite complicated : 
- using kernel vesa driver for the console causes black screen but I can ssh
the box. (no specific graphic output in dmesg), uvesa fails too.
- xorg vesa driver fails : the screen displays some ugly output with stripes
and the box hangs
- xorg vga driver fails.
- xorg radeon driver fails.
- xorg radeonhd fails too (see Xorg.log.0)
