Why don't you use your distribution's package instead? At least as a
first step. Here's a few hints regarding the name of the package:

Debian: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd

Ubuntu: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd

Fedora: xorg-x11-drv-radeonhd

OpenSuse: xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd

I'm using OpenSuse 10.3. I didn't realize RadeonHD came in rpm. I see
Suse doesn't include it as part of their distro. I see pbone.net offers

Use the opensuse buildservice.

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Drivers:/Video:/radeonhd/

It had the exactly same problem. I tried installing
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Drivers:/Video:/radeonhd/openSUSE_10.3/x86_64/xorg-x11-driver-video-radeonhd-1.1.0_080327_1623f86-1.1.x86_64.rpm
but got:
error: Failed dependencies:
