Hi John,

Bridgman, John writes:
Just guessing, but there are "reduced blanking" timings available for
LCDs -- if you were using regular timing and your display needed a
reduced blanking timing (usually indicated by an "R" in the modeline
somewhere IIRC) that might explain the blinking.

I don't think it's that easy. The mode line we use is the one supplied by
the device.

I'm also not sure if digital displays really need reduced timings.
To my understanding reduced timings are a feature of digital displays:
they increase the duty cycle and thus allow lower frequencies by using
the fact that there is no need for a 'retrace' of the CR which requires
a non-zero amount of time due to the electrical properties of the
coils on the tube.

However, let's verify, that we are really always using reduced timings.

Cheers,
Egbert.

Subject: [radeonhd] 1600x1200 -> LCD blink

Hi,

When I use the 1600x1200 LCD native resolution, my LCD (Samsung 204b)
blink If I use lower resolution it's ok.

My card is a Sapphire HD3650, and radeonhd last from git.

Is it possible to have 1600x1200 not blinking?

Thanks

Georges
