a. Comment out any references to "Monitor" sections.
b. add your favorite resolution to the "Mode" list.
After that be sure you keep a copy of the config so you can
restore it when the update process has felt it needed to 'fix'
it again.

I guess the card should be detected correctly
without any changes.
Therefore maybe you can attach your log file so that
we can see what went wrong.
puuuh, i guess lot of things go wrong and I'm tired to
it. now i can't even get panel's native 1920x1200 resolution.
note that i once wrote the whole config by hand but
some upgrade/pkg always 'fixes' it and don't have energy
anymore to fix it.
but let's start with the log. Anything else you need?
