Some more additional info:
I have not restarted the system during all these series of probing. The most of
the commit searching was done during the weekend, when I was "lucky" enough to
quickly get one after a driver change so I could dismiss commit after commit.
All I do is: reset the tree to the next (previous) commit and restart gdm and
the see when and if it occurs.
