Since the 1.1.x series (or maybe even with the 1.0.x), I have a strangeHm. Either you also updated the Xserver (and got some powersave
behaviour: the screen would occasionally go blank all of the sudden
without any trace in the available logs. What helps is a switch to
regression), or PLL programming isn't completely stable for you, and the
PLL needs a restart.
Nope, X server is as is, no updates. The 1.4 has yet to enter testing.
The second problem, that was there with the fglrx driver is present hereWith the fglrx kernel module loaded and/or the card fired up with the
fglrx driver anything is possible. The radeon driver always had issues
as well, with all sorts of radeon cards. Note that the kernel module
might be loaded, even if the fglrx driver isn't used. You might have to
rename it or deinstall the driver.
Nope, the fglrx module is not loaded.
It happens when switching users. On a random number of switches thereWould switching back to VT7 work as well?
would be a blank screen and a switch to one of the terminals and
restarting X would do. However, on a even more random number ( ;) ), the
Nope, at that point even Caps Lock button would not work on the
keyboard. Just the good ol' reset button on the box (yup, my machine has
one :) ).
system would just freeze - blank screen with a cursor high in the leftA freezing system is never a Desktop issue, but either a driver or a
corner and the only cure there is is a HW reset. I guess it's a more of
a gnome problem, because there are also reports of this behaviour in
hardware issue.
Good to know.
Any thoughts on this and what I kind do to provide any other useful infoOk, users, your time to speak up :)
or are there users with the same problems lurking somewhere? ;)
Seriously, I think you should enter a bug report in freedesktop's
bugzilla. This doesn't sound like something trivial to solve.
Ok. Will do that.
