Hi there! Since the 1.1.x series (or maybe even with the 1.0.x), I have a strange behaviour: the screen would occasionally go blank all of the sudden without any trace in the available logs. What helps is a switch to terminal (CTRL-ALT-F1 or any other) and then back (CTRL-ALT-F7). This just returns the picture and I continue where I left off. The second problem, that was there with the fglrx driver is present here from the beginning, though I'm not sure whether it's the driver or something else, because there is again nothing to be read in the logs. It happens when switching users. On a random number of switches there would be a blank screen and a switch to one of the terminals and restarting X would do. However, on a even more random number ( ;) ), the system would just freeze - blank screen with a cursor high in the left corner and the only cure there is is a HW reset. I guess it's a more of a gnome problem, because there are also reports of this behaviour in ubuntu in combination with the fglrx driver: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20/+b... I'm using Debian testing 64bit, fully up-to-date (has gnome 2.20), running the 2.6.23 kernel (happened with every previous ones as well) and xorg server 1.3.0. I have yet to see, what will happen with the new xorg (1.4) once it enters testing but I might as well try the radeon driver once it gives me the right resolution. The card is Gigabyte x1300PRO, 256MB. Any thoughts on this and what I kind do to provide any other useful info or are there users with the same problems lurking somewhere? ;) aljaz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
