Tried. XGamma works. But it isn't what I want. Changing brightness with thinkpad-acpi stoped working. Isn't there somethink related to ACPI or so, you have changed?
I noticed the same on my T60: LCD backlight control with Fn + HOME/END keys doesn't work anymore. I ran a git bisect to find the change that broke it:
1103f74dc04e80f47a84367771e6b981d6a902ac is first bad commit commit 1103f74dc04e80f47a84367771e6b981d6a902ac Author: Egbert Eich

Hope this helps to fix the problem....

Right, this seems to confirm that this is why lidevents no longer bork the mode. We will need to figure out how to intercept these brightness and lid events from acpi, and we need to handle these accordingly. For now, i expect that not breaking the mode on lidevent is better than being able to set the backlight. We will fix this as soon as some more pressing issues have been handled. Luc Verhaegen.
