I've just tried the latest git code, and the effect is still there. However, I'll make a better
attempt at describing it this time :-).
Imagine that the 1680x1050 screen is a rubber sheet, with the left-most 75%(ish) glued firmly in
place. However, it looks as if the right-hand 25% is being periodically tugged to the right before
snapping back into place. There are also fuzzy artifacts on the stretchy bit, and the cursor arrow
blurs and gains a ghostly echo when it passes over one.
