If you like, I can also send the Xorg log file from when I run it with the vesa driver, where I do get working video. Maybe this can help you figure out which modes are actually supported. I don't think simply telling my panel to stop lying will be very effective :)

Please remove the monitor section from your log file. This should make the driver decide on the correct mode.
Also, your panel is lying about the modes it supports directly. My mode validation should be more picky about which modes it treats as fixed modes as panels do lie. And it is one of those lied about that the driver is trying to set now and which isn't working directly.

I did this and I still get a blank screen, but according to the log file, Xorg is starting up with 1400x1050x60Hz:

I logged in blindly and ran xdpyinfo from the console and verified that X is running at 1400x1050.

If you like, I can also send the Xorg log file from when I run it with the vesa driver, where I do get working video. Maybe this can help you figure out which modes are actually supported. I don't think simply telling my panel to stop lying will be very effective :)
