I've put my old SCSI-CD-R(W) (Sony CRX-140S-RP 8x/4x/32x) into my server to test it. I works well with the same CD-RW, but it's slow (approximately 90 Kbyte/s). I think the problem is initializing with cdrwtool. Probably the PIONEER DVR-A03 does not support quick-format by firmware but only by software (c't claims that problem solved with new DVR-A04). I have same problem whith Vervatim DataLifePlus Hi-Speed CDRWs, but works fine whith other Verbatim non Hi-Speed
