Hi,
I'm using a 16x12x40 Cyber Drive with no problems.
But to reenforce Peter's warning about patch/kernel versions, I had no
success whatsoever with my previous drive ( a Mitsumi 4802TE) until I tried
kernel 2.4.19-pre5 with the packet writing 2.4.19-pre4 patch.

I am currently trying to find out information on EIDE CD-RW drives with a 10x or 12x rewritable speed, and their compatibility with the packet-writing module. I have attempted a TEAC drive but had horrible luck. I am currently looking at a few models - Sony (CRX195A1), ASUS (CRW-1610A), Mitsumi (CR-480ATE or CR-485CTE) and Lite-On (LTR-24102B or LTR-48125W). Are there any recommendations on these or any other drive that would fit these criteria?
I have a Sony CRX175A-RP, 24x/10x/40x, powerburn. It works well with the packet writing module. (It doesn't seem to support Mount Rainier though.)
Also when testing, make sure to use the latest patch (2.4.19-pre4) even if you are using an older kernel (such as 2.4.18). The 19-pre4/18 combination is known to work, but if you try a combination that doesn't work, you have much better chances if you upgrade the kernel instead of downgrading the packet patch. (Some drives need the 2.4.19-pre4 patch to work at all.)
